ISTD: The rule of three

This 2020 International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) assignment focused on the significance of numbers. Using typography, I aimed to challenge and change perceptions of the world of mathematics, to help people view it with fresh eyes.

This typographic book focuses on ‘three’, which is an enchantingly magical and surprisingly prevalent number. The book has a contemporary, light-hearted tone and feel. This was achieved through colloquial, playful content designed to engage the reader while also educating about the subject. The colour palette is black, white, orange, and red. These bold, striking colours highlight the dramatic (but still playful) nature of the book. Overall, the project creates a fun yet informative experience, shining a fresh light on the wonderful number three!

The book is split into three parts, all of different sizes but bound together as one. This design decision emphasises the significance of the number itself, while also using the physical object to grab a reader’s attention.
